best 5.1 system

The Logitech Z-680 5.1 THX is pretty much the best you can get in the decent pricerange. IMO

(Edit: there might be a new model out by now but with similar specs check that out)

Hmm.... tough call ... kinda depends on the price premium between the 680s and thr 5500s; anything more than 30USD and its in favor of the 680s. Regardless the 5500s and the 10" long throw............. :D

Yeah the 5500s are nice but compared to the 680s not worth more than a ~$30 premiusm
 
Anything logitech is great when it comes to speakers (and mice...) and if by best you ment "best" (without any regard to price) I'd go for the most expensive logitech there is.

Youve obviously not tried enough Logitech mice :P Anyways, i digress.... Klipsche make some sweet speakers too :)
