Bassssss!!!

by WMP do you mean windows media player, if so then yes of course there is. It has a built in graphic equalizer, to get to it open up media player and go to VIEW - ENHANCEMENTS - GRAPHIC EQUALIZER...... as oyu probably know the channels to the left hand sde controll the more bass sounds and the channels to the right control trebel, have a play around with it while a song is playing and see what happens.

not sure why, but all my images hosted on that site are blank now.. didn't think the site had a bandwidth limit...

anyways, it's just the bass slider under the creative surround mixer....

be careful! if you up the bass too much with those speakers they will blow!!

I cannot see that happening. To blow anything your going to have to seriously overload it and that just is not going to happen hooked up to the PC with the amp built into the system. Too much base might harm the speakers and lower the quality after long extended use with something like full base.

but from what i said that about (using the EQ to increase bass), it is very possible. if you use an EQ without knowledge of what you're doing, bad things can happen. an equalizer isn't meant to add bass in the sense he's talking about, an EQ is meant to tune frequencies so that the response curve is flat. if he goes and turns the 63Hz frequency up 12dB, the signal going to the amp is going to be clipped, and the speakers will distort. sure, turning the EQ up a couple of dB's isn't going to hurt anything, but if you use it incorrectly damage can occur.

the amp doesn't have anything that limits the signal from being clipped and distorted. a passive crossover maybe, but frequencies that DO pass through the crossover turned up too much via the EQ can still damage the sub.

all that upping the limits in the software EQ will do is create distortion if they are boosted too high.

easiest way to increase the bass is to mess with the EQ settings, if your sound card supports it there will be options in the soundcard properties, this will be the best way because the cpu wont be doing the work.

for some reason my card doesn't lol

The only way to "blow" a speaker would be to send it a massive power spike. Granted, if you crank the bass, and crank the volume, you *might* over time degrade the diaphragm. However, this would take quite a while, and the conditions mentioned would not be a pleasant listening volume... :)
