Backward compatibilty

Let's say that system C is backward compatible with system B and system B is backward compatible with system A. Does this necessarily mean that system C is backward compatible with system A?

Comments anyone?

According to the laws of formal logic: Yes.

If
a>b>c
Then
a>c

Haha. Though it really depends on what you are talking about.

Its rare to have that much compatibility.

Even AMD sockets.

AM3 processors will fit a AM3+/AM3/AM2+ and AM2 sockets.

But AM2/AM2+ processors will not fit a AM3/AM3+ sockets
