avg secure search

I don't know how it got there but I discovered AVG secure search on my computer with vista OS. I went to programs and features and hit the delete but it wouldn't delete, it merely opened a message "are you sure" with no way to answer, no yes button and no no button. In other words absolutely NO way to delete it. I then went to C drive, programs, and opened AVG secure search and tried to delete it from there, it refused to delete. I then decided to run kill disk and reload the OS, killdisk refused to run, first time ever. I then tried to reload using UBUNTU, Linux refused to load. Changed hard drive and loaded windows 8 X 64. When the job was done many hours later I checked and believe it or not, there was AVG secure search in programs and features. Advice on how to get rid of it???

When KILL DISK refused to run...what EXACTLY happened?
Did it just freeze when the erase process started?

Is this laptop or desktop PC?
If it's desktop, check the jumpers on the drive. Some drives can set jumper to the setting which does not allow certain writing operations on the drive...
The chances for that are minimal, but check anyway...

Also how did you try to load KILL DISK?
You must boot from the CD disk directly...not within windows...

If the AVG secure search was still there when you installed Windows 8 then there are few possible scenarios for that:

-Windows 8 is a pirated copy downloaded from places like torrent sites and someone has put AVG in it...

-You installed Windows 8 as an upgrade instead of clean custom installation...

-You installed Windows 8 across other Windows without completely erasing the entire drive first or you made something wrong with the partitions configuration...

AVG CANNOT be there if the whole drive was erased.
You said that KILL DISK refused to run,BUT Windows 8 installed?
LoL don't you find that a little bit strange?
It is probably the reason why AVG is still there...because you never removed it in the first place...

Also do you have multiple drives connected?

Run ADWcleaner.

If it's still in your programs list, run ccleaner, go to "tools" on the left, then it should open the uninstall section. There, click on AVG and then click "delete entry." You should be free from it, then.
