Hi I hope this is the right forum. I have Avast the free version and it says my system is secure, I am running Windows XP Home Edition. but Avast asked me to update which I did, but not when ever I try I get an error message saying other HTTP error 404 while trying 77.234.43.39.80 etc etc. I have to type it out manually as it won’t let me copy the message.

Can you tell me how to sort this please and whether this is serious? Thanks.

:)

I know there is a program update available as I tried downloading it this morning and it wouldn't complete. Said the package was broken. You may just want to download the latest version from avast.

Just tried it again and same error.

Edit: Just checked their forum and its a server issue. Not sure when it will be fixed.

I have restarted my computer and it was still the same. How do I get the update please? Or will I have to install Avast again?

I am a bit worried about getting a nasty virus. Its doing a quick scan at the mo.

I edited my last post. It seems they are having server issues on their end. Not sure when it will get fixed. Issue started today. I doubt a reinstall of avast will fix it. I would just wait until tomorrow.

Well it says I am secured in green writing and I am fully protected. How can I find out what version I am running please?

Click on update and all the info will be listed on the right. The latest definitions are 121119-1 and program version is 7.0.1474

Nothing you can do, just wait. They have to fix on their end. If you aren't one to get a virus then don't worry about it.

Ive had the same thing happen a few times, in the end ended up changing back to Avira.

The last time I tried Avira, I didn't like their interface. The OP always has the option to uninstall and install a different program. But the issue should be fixed soon.

I have noticed since I have been using it again, it has more pop ups wanting you to upgrade and various other programs. The interface is ok to me, but I will admit the pop ups are getting on my nerves. Think Avast has been having update problems though.
