 so i have the modem hooked into the router via ethernet cable and then an ethernet cable going to each computer. i cannot figure out whats wrong with this thing, i went through netgears setup wizard and it simply won't connect. ive even tried my router at home and that wouldnt connect. so far we've tried three routers so its not the router.

so far we've managed to go straight past the router to each computer and we have internet working fine... the thing is we cant get internet on either computer through any router!

any ideas?

Did you use the router software on your 'server' computer and configure it to the connection? Did you log into the modem and bridge the connections? Who is your ISP? If it is verizon, call tech support and they will step you through the modem bridge? Try this and if it doesn't work then report again.

Make sure the router is setup correctly, since some modems and ISP use dynamic IP, and some use static IP. And unless you have it set up correctly, it wont connect to the internet.

well, both the modem and the router were using the same IP range... 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.51.... just changed the routers set to 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.51 and it began working.

thanks for the suggestions.
