Audio stopped working suddenly

I am new to the forum, so first of all, I would like to say hello.

My problem is that two days ago, my audio stopped working. I have tried everything that I could think of. I reinstalled my drivers, messed around with all of my audio settings.

I have a feeling its a hardware problem, and I will need to buy a sound card. I am currently using on-board sound.

I reinstalled my OS, vista Ultimate 32bit just now, and there was no sound with default sound drivers or the on-board sound driver (C-Media 6501)

My motherboard:
-Asus M2N-E SLI NVIDIA nForce 500 SLI MCP Chipset DDR2/800 SATA RAID PCI-Express MBoard w/GbLAN,IEEE1394,USB2.0,&7.1Audio

Anything help you have to offer will be much appreciated guys and gals.

If you done all of the steps which help in audio troubleshooting. then it might be Hardware Problem. But Once Try to download latest Version of your Audio from net.

First, check the Device Manager for any errors with the sound device. You may have some clues to the issue there. Also, as mentioned above, updating your drivers to the most current version may help.

You may also wish to confirm that the on-board audio is enabled in your BIOS.
