Audio in every room

Hi everyone,

this is my first post so I'd like to say hi :-)

I'm looking for some advice on a setup I want to build/buy. I wanna be able to have a set of speakers in all of the rooms in my flat and have music playing in any room I select all from my library of music. I have a synology ds410j with all my music on that's on the same network as my pc, ps3 laptop etc.

Basically in my ideal world, I'd be able to have speakers in every room hooked up to my pc or a seperate controller and I can simply select through my iPhone (maybe the iTunes remote app) and then the music playout wherever I select.

I have a budget of around £800, Unless I need specific/special speakers this budget is not for speakers. Just the controller hardware/software

any help much appreciated. I didn't really know where to put this, hopefully this is the right place.

Cheers

That really looks awesome. If I have all my tunes on the synology ds410j, which has an iTunes server built in will it work directly with the sonos system without having to have my pc on, the demo vid shows an apple time capsule acting as the server.

I think it would work, but I'd really hate to lead you down the wrong path.

The sonos S5 states it requires the following operating systems(for stored files):

Windows® XP SP2 and higher; Mac OS X v10.4 and higher; NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices supporting CIFS

When I looked up your synology ds410j, it seems to foot the bill. It would be nice if some of the resident experts would chime in to insure it would work.

I listended to the Sonos a few years ago, and the sound was pretty decent, considering what it is.

A nice Sonos system was exactly what I was going to recommend. The guy that made the Evolution of Dance struck up a sweepstakes with them before he made the Evolution of Dance 2 and that's how I found out about them.

ah good spot.

I just did some digging into the CIFS support on the ds410j and your right. To be sure before I consider buying one ive actually just fired off an email to both synology and sonos to see what they say.

Ill let you know the outcome...If there is one.

In the meantime if anyone has any other suggestions to add some diversity that would be great.
