Audio Help

When I play any type of sound with any type of media player, games etc. I get a humming/buzzing sound through the speakers. Is this my sound card or speakers?

Its an onboard sound card on my laptop.
nVidiaMCP51

Sound started about 10hrs ago when I tried playing an episode of Star Gazer on RealPlayer.

Its just noise from the amplifier, it has a low SNR. Could also be the connector not fully in place. But most likely its just the amp. How noticable is the noise?

There is no other sound coming through but the buzz/humming.

The laptop is listed in my signature. Just went out of warranty about 2months ago. Sucks.

Oh, if thats the only sound then you do have a problem. Check your computers sound settings, and your speakers connections. They are external speakers right?

If that laptop has built in speakers, see if those work.

Its the laptops internal speakers.

I tried headphones to see if it was just the speakers. Same noise comes through on headphones also.

This problem has happen before, but went away with a restart. Didnt go away this time.

please someone help... have no audio for games.. sucks.

if there a program i can download to see if my sound card is working properly?

I get sound, but its just humming/buzzing. Thats it.

Thanks.
