Audio CODEC problems...

First of all, I do not have a sound card, I'm using the onboard, I just figured this'd be a better place to put this rather then in the 'motherboard' section, if you feel its needed, a Mod can move this.:D
Alright, I've just recently been faced with this problem, and I can't manage to fix it on myown. So here's as best I can explain. I have no sound, when I got into device manager, when I look at my sound controller, it says the drivers need re-installed, so I click that, then it starts and gets to copying files and stops and says 'Cannot install this hardware. There was a problem installing this hardware. An error occured during the installation of this device. A device attached to the system is not functioning.'
I'm not quite sure where to go from there. I appreciate any help Thanks!

So since you said it was copying the files.. Do you currently have the file on hand on your computer? If so, it possibly could be corrupted, if its on a removable media like a disk or cd, make sure they are clean and isn't dusty with scratches and smudges.

If you know your driver, you can try downloading the driver again online.
It shouldn't be your hardware or anything.. (assuming you had sound before)

well I don't beleve I have any driver software...and I can't manage to find an online update.

EDIT: nvm, I found an update online and it works now :D
