Audigy 4 - No Surround

I have an Soundblaster Audigy 4 sound card and Windows Vista Ultimate and I'm not getting any surround signals. When I use my built-in audio it works but I only get the two front and the subwoofer with the Audigy. It worked fine when I had Windows XP. Is this a driver issue or what?

Make sure you have the Vista version of the drivers installed. Initially the beta version plus the old software saw problems on the Audigy 4 Pro here. When going to reinstall the software for the card use the custom not express option to install the sound mixer and a few other items only. Do not install the speaker settings and EAX!

Creative has a new patch for the OpenAL for running the Audigy line on Vista. This pretty much covers the now useless EAX no longer seen used in Vista. For the main download page go to http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/ and look below at the screen capture to see how to pick out the model you use. On the next page you then see the options for the version of Windows you are running.

The Creative ALchemy Project as it is called can be found at http://preview.creativelabs.com/alchemy/default.aspx The V1.3 version seen there on the right side of the page came out back in march. Once the new update is on simply open the Creative folder seen in the Programs menu and look for the audio console there. You can also create a desktop shortcut for the console(to make life a little easier that is!) and simply drag the "audio console(2)" onto the desktop. The "2" can be removed later in the general tab of the right click menu. This should get you situated there.

(I know! The first attempts were a real pain in ...  gggrrrr...! :P )
