Audigy 2 + (3x) 2.1 speakers = 6.1 ?

Hi,

I have 2 quite amazing speaker systems, and one *okay* system that shines with treble. They are all subwoofer+2 satellites.

My computer has a audigy 2 card. For awhile now, I've been running a 4.1 surround with no setup issue at all. I split the front signal between the good treble system and one of the other systems, and then just ran a 15ft cable to the rear system. Works great. but only as 4.1

The audigy has a 3rd output, rear/center/subwoofer. Plugging a 2.1 system into this plug fails miserably (no surprise!) It sends subwoofer signal to one of the satellites, and med/treble to the bass--and the 2nd satellite gets no signal at all. This is true for both systems described above, when connected to the rear/center/sub output on the audigy 2 card.

So my question is, is there any way to mess around with this configuration and pull out a 5.1, or 6.1 surround sound? All 3 systems can potentially play digital, but are currently configured for analog. What are your thoughts?

You need a mini jack to RCA then you need to identify which one what channel (center front/center rear/ subwoofer) then go back to minijack (or what ever input your speakers take), you don’t need the subwoofer channel becuase I am guessing each 2.1 system you have has its on internal crossover.

The best sound you could get would be to use the good ones for the Front-Left,Front-Right,Rear-Left,Rear-Right and use the tweeter ones for Front-Center,RearCenter, that being because the center are usually just voice and you can avoid cancellation this way.

You do have all the cables plugged into the right jacks right? you dont have the satellite speaker plugged into the subwoofer jack?

The center/sub/rear port that I'm referring to is a single port, not 3 ports.

When you say minijack to RCA--what sort of RCA are you talking about? RCA, as far as I know, doesn't have three plugs on the end (for me to choose which channel goes where!) Usually its either one plug or two. For example,

Is that what you're talking about? And if so, how does that work...

Geoff--no. This probably makes things a bit harder now.. So the system that's better with treble doesnt just have 2 satellites plug into the sub. It has one satellite connected to the other via minijack->minijack, then a "control" cable from the second satellite to the subwoofer--which then has mini-jack->minijack to the computer. So no, things arent plugged in the wrong way. And like I said before, the center/sub/rear is a single minijack port, not 3 ports. So it's not really possible to plug anything in the wrong way....

I guess the audigy 2 is different the the audigy 2 zs, i have a port for the sub/rear and a seperate one for the center

RCA is the connector type that is on them three-plug thing yer talking about :)
