Hi,
I have a Athlon 2400(Thornton) on a Asrock K7VT6 Mobo with my Abit Siluro Geforce FX 5900 128MB.

Ive currently got my CPU overclocked, from 2000mhz to 2250mhz, 133 to 150mhz FSB with a 5% vcore increase.
100% stable and reliable!

These are my tempratures after playing games for 2 hours in hot room:

How much more can my 2400 cpu go before it becomes unstable?

keep going and you'll find out :). there's no defined limit to overclocking for specific equipment, each piece of equipment is individual

Idle:
case temp: 42C
CPU temp: 50C

Load:
case temp: 47C
CPU temp: 55C

Vcore: 1.74V, 5% Increased

100% stable no problems atall

i wouldn't want to push anymore simply cos of the cpu temp, i would hope that is a load temp too.
if you could upgrade to a better cooling system i would imagine you could go a little further

Yea i agree with you!

My cpu cooler is very good, but my case ventalation is crap.

Im considering buying a new case.

Yeah, thats a hefty looking cooler. i dont know the temp limit for the athlon xp, but i wouldn't want to go further if the temps rise dramatically.
it wouldn't hurt to test it out as an experiment to see how it would affect things.

Im sure that the highest temps athlon xp's can go is 85-90C
so my cpu is well within the limits.

I will have a go at overclocking some more

Overclocked a bit more, 150fsb to 155fsb.

It wouldnt boot into windows with the fsb set at 155mhz.
So i had to increase the vcore by 10% and then it became stable but much hotter.

so ive decided i will stick with my original overclock!

i was able to get my Sempron 2800+ from 1.6Ghz to 2.03Ghz (+430Mhz) with no increase in core voltage, and it runs at around 40C idle and 45C load w/ stock hsf and thermal pad.

How hot did yours get with a 10% increase?

the idle temp with 10% vcore increase was 51C

My case temp was 46c:eek: ! i have a badly ventalated case:mad:
