asus xonar ds pci 7.1 problems

well ill tell you a little about the problem

card installed in pci slot booted up pc and the windows driver loading popup comes up with a cross nearly instantly saying drivers not found!

i go to install drivers and an error message comes up saying "hardware not detected"

i check in device manager and there is hardware with the attention symbol next to it, thing is it says vga card..

my pc thinks my sound card is a vga card therfore i cant install drivers as my oc says there is no sound card there!

so how do i make my pc recognise the soundcard for what it is?

i have just ordered another soundcard now (3rd one)
 
hmm... maybe try a different slot or reseat it... or maybe it's just a bug with windows. you could try manually installing the drivers through device manager. you would need to extract the .inf and maybe .sys files from the driver EXE.
 
nah mate there all fine....

ive just bought another identicle mobo cos i think mine is damaged, i have tried 3 different soundcards and they wont work!

i bought the exact one i used to have which did work and i get the same error, i think the phase cooling i used to have has killed my mobo!
