Hey all. I apologize for the length of this post, but I need to describe the situation clearly, so here I go.
When I have my sound unmuted, I hear a sort of pulsing hum. I know exactly what causing it. My microphone is picking up the sound of my computer simply being on. When I mute the speakers, this hum goes away. However, I use my speakers constantly. On the other hand, I *never* use the microphone, so I tried disabling it using the Windows 7 "Recording Devices" panel. When I mute the microphone, the humming doesn't go away.
Both enabled or disabled, the microphone picks up noise. If I blow at it, I can hear the air running over the microphone. If I run my thumb across the microphone, it picks up the sound of my thumb moving across the plastic. It's like it's over-sensitive, and I can't disable it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? It's literally driving me bonkers.
Thanks!
