Asus extra softare worth it?

So for a whole hour I owned a Asus laptop, I just didn't care for it and so I got rid of it. One of my complaints was all the extra things Asus puts on there to make the computer boot faster and run smoother and and use less battery. I just didn't care for it cause when I started to remove some of it Windows started acting funny. I just want to buy a Computer with minimal to no extra crap on it, Just Windows and what Microsoft intended to have on there. I did some reading up on all that stuff they put on there and many people seem to notice little or no difference with there computer's performance, what do you all think or experiences you have had with Asus optmize software?

Like every other piece of software computer manufacturers put on there - it is pointless. It will help the speed for people that don't understand how to maintain a system, because it will, to a point, help when the computer is completely bogged down in crap, however, the majority of people here build their own systems, have none of this software, maintain it all themselves, and have better computers than ones you can just buy off the shelves.

Every time I get a client asking for help with one of their computers, if it is a prebuilt (99% of the time it is unless I built it for them), I immediately say do you want me to clean it up for you, and take out all of the bloatware, because it is unnecessary

True you can not help that you will get bloatware on your laptop but Taking it of should make it go faster. In your case Something like running Ccleaner might have helped get any extra entries that are left over from the applications that you deleted.

Can't help the bloat wear that comes on on pre built laptops which you cannot be built.

I know, but you are still able to get rid of it all, I was just saying it is only any use on systems where the user does practically 0 maintenance

I get it, I just think think with sll the software that they include the could include a program that is a one click uninstall crapwear, just my two cents.

there is a program called slim computer, its purpose is to get rid of bloatware

by adding more bloatware?

That is what most of these programs say they will do - speed up your computer, when you are just putting more stuff in there to slow you down. There is already a program that comes with Windows that gets rid of bloatware, Add and Remove Programs. Run it, delete the directory and you are set

+1,
That is what I did, took maybe 30 minutes and that includes the time it takes to un-install the program and with a few reboots if it is required.

If you buy the computer, don't you buy the license to windows? Can't you just reinstall? That seems like an easy thing to do, especially since you just bought it anyway.

Yes, you can create the restore disc but it is easier and faster just to go into "add/remove programs".

First thing I do with a new computer..

Grab shiny retail copy of Windows 7
Insert into DVD drive
Format, and install

You're left with a computer the way Microsoft Intended. No screwing about uninstalling, rebooting, registry and fragmentation cleaning etc.
Just start from scratch. Save the hassle and time.

Completely defeats the purpose of getting a prebuilt computer. You get it, then spend extra money over the labour costs you already paid and the software costs, and time, again, over labour and software loading... Just do it yourself, or leave it as is and clean it up

+1,

Not like Windows is a cheap OS to come by anyway.
