Assistance required please

Hi all,

I am looking for some assistance please.

I purchased a new laptop 4 weeks ago (see specs below), and it is really slow. I bought the laptop to replace my partners computer which was on it's last legs, however the new laptop is even slower.

I have received advice from friends on what to uninstall and install, however I must stress that my computer knowledge is very limited, and I actually need written step by step instructions that a 10 year old could follow in order to achieve what I am trying to do.

Any advice, or reference to internet sites which could help would be very much appreciated.

Manufacturer: Toshiba
Processor: AMD E1-1200 APU 1.40GHz
RAM: 2gb (1.6 usable)
System type: 64 bit OS

The reason your system is slow is because of 2 reasons.

1. low end cpu
2. only 2gb of memory installed.

Increasing memory to 4 gb should help some.

However, you really need to do your homework before purchasing any computer system. You need to make sure that it has the correct specs for what you need it to do.

I would also suggest calling where you bought it and see if you can return it for a better model.

This. That's really a pretty low end laptop.

Like they said, low end CPU and not much ram. You can buy extra ram, just make sure it matches. But if you're looking to get a better CPU, laptops often have it integrated into the board so it can't be removed/replaced. Basically the only way for you to have a faster computer is for you to buy a new one (and return this one if you can).
