asrock k7s41gx no video, beeps

i am trying to upgrade my computer. i am using my old cpu,amd athalon 1400.i have a cpu fan controller to adjust fan speed. when i hook it up i get no beeps. when i hook it up to the mobo i get beeps. i have tested it outside and no boot. i called asrock and they said try another cpu. i don't have another one yet.i am using pc2700 ram 512mb.i don't know if i am doing anything wrong or if it is the cpu or mobo. any input would be great.

i can get the computer running butall i get is a beep beep beep.
i think the cpu might be bad.

try putting the stick of ram into a different slot

If you can say what the BIOS is (award, phoenix...) you can look up the beeps online and find out what they mean. Usually 3 beeps mean's a memory problem, run a pass of memtest (www.memtest.com) see if it turns anything up.

i have tried different ram. it will just keep beeping. like an alarm clock, i called asrock and they said try a different cpu. i don't have another one yet. i am going to try to get one this weekend. the bios say AMI 2MB Flash ROM with ACPI, SM BIOS 3.0, PnP. thanks for all the help.
