Read the bottom first then copy these internet addresses one at a time and paste it in your address bar on your internet browser they'll show a picture. The guy made these pictures with a typewriter! It's really cool.

Paul Smith, the man with extraordinary talent was born in Philadelphia on September 21, 1921, with severe cerebral palsy.

Not only had Paul beaten the odds of a life with spastic cerebral palsy, a disability that impeded his speech & mobility but also taught himself to become a master artist as well as a terrific chess player even after being devoid of a formal education as a child.

When typing, Paul used his left hand to steady his right one. Since he couldn't press two keys at the same time, he almost always locked the shift key down and made his pictures using the symbols at the top of the number keys. In other words, his pictures were based on these characters ..... @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _.

Across seven decades, Paul created hundreds of pictures. He often gave the originals away. Sometimes, but not always, he kept or received a copy for his own records.

As his mastery of the typewriter grew, he developed techniques to create shadings, colors, and textures that made his work resemble pencil or charcoal drawings.

He passed away on June 25, 2007, but left behind a collection of his amazing artwork that will be an inspiration for many.

I would love to see high resolution versions in order to see the symbols.

Note to the computer illiterates: due to the way this forum formats long URLs, technically you can't copy and paste them, but you can middle click (to open in a new tab)

how the hell did he do that haha. those would be hard to draw with a pencils let alone a freakin type writer.

Wow thats amazing i think he has the right to be called an artist then :P How much are one of his pieces worth or is it unknown?

That is insane. Wow. I would love to find some of his work as well.

Here is a youtube vid about him and his work. Wow, it is a slow process. He really was quite amazing.

Edit: Going over it again, the thought he had to go through to plan out each and every bit is incredible. And his works are in exact proportion, many times not even one space off what it should be. Incredible.
