Application error (Sorry wasnt sure where to post this)

Hey guys, again sorry if I am posting this in the wrong forum.
My computer was being pretty slow so I went to restart it, pushed and held down the power button then hit the power button 2 times really quickly. The comp comes back on and after showing the windows xp logo takes me to a black screen where I get

"lass.exe application error"
Then it gives me this code "oxc0000005"

I cant do anything on the computer and have no idea how to fix this. Any ideas would be great.

by the link 7angofragger posted, id try swopping the RAM sticks trying one at a time and see if that sorts it, or download and run a RAM diagnostic test. it might be a dieing RAM stick.

when you shut your system down, never press and hold the power button unless the system had completely frozen or you get a blue screen of death and when that happens, press and hold the power button untill it turns off, leave it for 5-10 seconds and then turn it back on.
 
id either try to restore windows and if that dont work id reinstall windows or/and try running ubuntu live and see how it is.

Its highly unlikely it was your memory, sorry if you bought memory or changed it out. Chances are you had a Virus.
