so does creative have solution for this yet?

You saw Vista drivers go on most likely. Click the show details button on the top one of the two updates to see "audio console for Vista only" when choosing XP as the version. The second is for XP/SP2 seen at http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=1&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=1&Product_Name=Live%21+24-bit&Product_ID=10315&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=12&y=17

Once you remove the current software/drivers and download the second and see that go on set the speaker settings to 5.1 before restarting the system. By default the system should then load in the 5.1 configuration.

I dont understand much but do you mean uninstall the first one and install the second one?

I just installed the first one but it still randomly set to 2.1 for me.

The installer will by default set the speaker setting to the 2 1/2 setting automatically. Once you change that to 5.1 and restart the system you should still see 5.1 come up every time following the initial memory of the setting.

When you double click on the icon seen in the system tray and switch to the entertainment mode click on the main display button. The first item then seen on the left is for the speaker settings there. The Vista ready audio console(varies between cards) still looks much like the screen below in both XP and Vista.

Once you set 5.1 there that should be seen on each boot up. If not you would remove the current installation of software/drivers and go for the second update which is strictly for XP while the first seen on the download page is for Vista 32/64, XP Pro 64, Pro and Home with SP2.

The answer to that one is simple. When going for any updates always read the information which shows this for the first with the Vista only audio console.

"This suite of drivers and applications has been updated and combined for your convenience. It installs the following applications to control your audio device's settings. For more details, read the rest of this web release note.
Applications included in this release:
  • Creative Audio Console (for Windows Vista™ only)
  • Creative Device Control
  • Creative EAX Console
  • Creative Speaker Settings
Added Features or Enhancements:
  • Enables 44.1 kHz sampling format for SPDIF In and Out.
Requirements:
  • Microsoft® Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
  • Sound Blaster® Audigy® Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Live!® 24-bit audio devices
Notes:
  • This pack is only for the Creative Sound Blaster audio devices listed above.
DO NOT install this pack for Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External."
The second item there is simply a set of drivers without the software side for use with XP. Apparently they dropped that for XP on that line of cards while still providing it for those who upgrade to the new version. Being an older model card you are then prompted to spend on a newer model!
