AntiStatic braclet

Should i put this on when adding anything to my computer? I wanted to install my liteon but i have to wait till Monday to get a bracelet. Nothing is installed in my case yes besides the fans it came with.

Also, i was always taught to clip the bracelet to the computer case, but i read that you should clip it to something else. Opinions?

The general concensus was not to worry about needing any wrist strap
But if you still want to, then yes the aligator clips on to the internal bare metal of the case

well i wont use the static bracelet on installing my cd drive but when i get my mobo, hdd, etc i will. I can get one from my school for free

For installing an optical drive...into an empty case...

Id just touch the bare metal of the case to discharge electricity before putting it in.

I just stripped down to my boxers and assembled the case ( dorm floor is tile ).

Good thing i have a single room for the moment haha

I have one but barely use it, I just touch part of the case for a couple seconds before I touch the components, usually I don't have static, but occasionally it will discharge me.

I didn't I just touched metal first to release any build up and I was fine. So was the computer.

Keep the skin of your arm always on the the metal of the case. really it doesn't for consumer level electronics. (there are plenty of dissertations on the subject)

I job shadowed at Intel and when were in the hardware assembling and testing lab no one was wearing any bracelets. I don't recall seeing special flooring. Also, they guy I was with broke the FPGA board he was working on when were debugging it. It was no big deal though. He just got on the phone ask for a new one.
