What do YOU think is the most crucial part in the computer?

If you really need it, take these into consideration:

-Long Life
-Durability
-Performance
-Looks
-Wide Range of Use

If you have your answer, put it in your signature like this: COMPONENT

power supply, because you could have the best parts and latest everything...but it won't work without a power supply, and a cheapo power supply won't work because if it goes out, theres a good chance it will take the pats with it. words of bomberboysk

cool, its funny, thats same reason i chose psu over any other part

edit: also if you have a good one it has long life and its usability goes byond just computers, its a power supply so you can build other high wattage devices with it.

I'm not saying which one makes it work most, I'm saying which one YOU would spend a bit more money on than normal if you had the choice.

Does not apply to what?

If you need ANOTHER rewording, if you had the choice to get the highest quality ___, what would the ___ be?

Everyone's going to choose PSU. I doubt people will change their signatures though...

I have to agree. I can't even push my sig any further :P

I always make sure to buy a superior PSU for my build...I bought my sigs PSU back when I ran a simple dual-core and 8800GT to ensure I had upgrade room and to stay below 90% load. (was a good deal too)

I think some people on here obsess over the power supply a bit. I mean, it is absolutely essential to get a good one, but there are plenty of good ones to choose from. As long as you're getting a reliable model that can handle your system, the specifics don't matter as much. I think the motherboard is probably the most esential part of a system, because it has so many more different choices than other components. Depending on what sort of computer you want to build, you need to look at socket type, number of RAM slots, number of SATA/PATA ports, PCI slots, PCI-e slots, SLI/Crossfire support, and more.
