Annoying startup issue :(...

Any help would be appreciated. When my computer starts up it first goes to the screen telling me the buttons I press if I want to go to BIOS or start in safe mode for a relatively long time, it then goes into the windows load screen for roughly 10mins. This is very aggravating. I used to have the same problem, but it would only happen if I used the tower to shutdown or the computer crashed. Now it seems to do it every time. Although for some reason about a fortnight ago, it worked correctly a few times...

Also does anybody have any ideas on how to make windows log on in the morning at a certain time? In Bios I have it setup so the computer runs at a certain time every day but I don't know how to make the computer log in at a certain time each day. I know you can make the computer automatically log on to a certain account every time you power up the system, but that is very insecure method and I would prefer not to do that. My crappy brother thinks that means he can use my account as well . That is all a means to run programs like frost wire and firefox - while I am still asleep, which don't seem to want to work if I haven't atleast logged in before hand. I believe they still work if the scheduler runs them after I have logged out though. So if you have a method that successfully runs them without previously logging in, I would be happy to give it a shot. My system automatically goes to the welcome screen after 5 minutes of inactivity and you have to log back on.

FYI I am running Windows XP.

For the first problem I would try and reset CMOS, my computer was doing that this morning.
The way you do that, is open up your tower, make sure you're well grounded, you can do that by holding the case with one hand and with the other hand take out the tiny battery that you'll see in there. Leave it off for about a minute or so, make sure you have no power going to the tower at all.
Then plug it back in, everything in bios should be reset.
Hopefully that works, be sure all your cords are plugged in well.

For the second part, I'm not really sure how to go about that.
