I was wondering, Is Socket AM2 the same as Socket 939?

No, AM2 and Socket 939 are different and incompatible.

As for stores, www.msy.com.au is very well priced, but not an online store. Take a look at www.staticice.com.au - it's a site which compares prices on a variety of computer equipment within Australia.

Nope, it's not. AM2 has 940 pins (not to be confused with socket 940 though), and it supports DDR2.

Don't upgrade yet, since theres a new (well, revised) socket coming out in the not to distant future.

I've heard AM2+, but from what i've heard it will be compatible with most AM2 motherboards, but I would just wait if you're in no need for an upgrade.
