EDIT: sorry, you just don't seem to have a real problem... or at least you haven't stated one...

Are you wanting to share the internet connection with other computers on the LAN? I am going to guess that you already have a router if you have a LAN. You can just plug the modem into the router and configure it (the router) any way you need.

I that was able to help.

If your service comes from the phone line you have ADSL

If your service comes from the CABLE TV COAX CORD then you have Cable.

It doesnt matter if you get a Cable or DSL modem they both hook up to a Modem (which gives out the same signal).

if he has cable, then he needs a cable modem... cable modems have a coax connector on the back... DSL ones do not...

Regardless of your internet service, as long as the modem has an ethernet port on it, you just need a basic router to share the internet connection.

Your query is a bit confusing.

Blueyonder is cable. If you want a router to use with your current cable modem then you need a router WITHOUT an internal modem of any type.

If you want to replace your modem with a router with built in modem then it has to be a cable one.

Sorry, I wanted to know which type of router I needed- cable or ADSL?
Is the router going to be used as your modem too? If yes, then you need it to be cable. If not, then as long as the router you get doesn't have a modem in it, then you can use any model (as mentioned earlier by others).
