always getting burgled!

As I'm always getting burgled I've purchased a Dedicated Micros D4 security system that operates 3 cameras and plugs into the TV via the D4 box. There is an ethernet cable isocket in the back of the D4 and I've connected this directly to the family computer (XP) but I can't get the two to communicate (I want to be able to save camera images to hard drive and /or copy to DVD.

Am I making some basic error? I thought that with the known IP address I could get them to connect with the D4 software.

Appreciate any help

You may only be able to operate one of the out ports at a time.. check the manual.. or call the manfacturer
