hey,

im new to sound cards i dont know anything about them. What should i look for in a sound card?

ps. send me some links of some good sound cards to gimme a betetr idea of wat im lookin for.

ps(2) what is a good brand in your opinion?
 
look at creative labs audigy 2's, they are pretty standard for a better-than-integrated but not breaking the bank card
 
Yes Audigy is pretty popular, but the real question is "how much can you spend?"

If you've only got $20 there isn't much to choose from. Also, if your motherboard has integrated sound you might not even need a sound card, I know for listening to music and gaming my motherboard had superb integrated sound.
 
And if you want to use for example 5.1 sound system you can easily do that even with older integrated sound cards (AC'97 for the sound card). My mobo is from 2000 I think and I used a program called Soundman and just "converted" the Line In and Mic to Line out and then connected 3 pairs of speakers. The bass ain't too great due to a crappy little speaker which has written on it "Mega Bass", talk about sarcasm.
