I need an AGP 8x video card with DVI or HDMI output that works with both Windows 7 and Linux Fedora 13 operating systems. My MB only has 3 PCI slots and 1 AGP 8x slot.
Anybody using a card that works with both?

try to do google translate :P
But I think you can understand most terms.

Latest NVIDIA AGP card is the 7800 GT I believe; but they're hard to come by and are quite expensive. Something like an AGP 6600 GT or perhaps a 6800 GT would be fine. I've got a 6600 GT in my old rig (AGP). Works fine, can play older games without a problem.

I've run XP and Ubuntu on my system with the AGP GeForce 6600 GT and not had a problem with either. Any AGP NVIDIA card would do.

7600GS cards can be had for about 25 bucks on ebay. if linux support is the big deal id go with that.

+1 anything like a 6600, 6800, 7600 or 7800 would be good. I'd say there's little point in going for like a 6200 or a 7300; because the higher-end cards can be had for so much cheaper these days.

I had an X1650 Pro AGP card that worked with 7 and Ubuntu 10.4. It didnt like Linux very well, but it worked. Wouldnt do much in the way of 3D stuff in Linux but who uses Linux for gaming anyways?

Does anyone wonder why you would do this? I mean a AGP GPU at the top end still commands around $130. Why wouldn't you just get a APU?

Im saying that you can get a mobo and APU for not a lot more, making it much more future proof and get better performance.

What mobo/cpu/ram combo could he possibly get for $130 or less that would be better than what he has in terms of graphics? You can have a decent CPU but if your using integrated graphics then thats a waste of money if you want to play games....

It would get the job done, I would go better if I were building it from scratch. But If he just needs a card for basic use, get the 6200agp, If you want anything better build a new computer.

Didnt realize they had CPUs that cheap new. I guess AMD is really having to lower their prices to stay in the market?

That might be a decent setup for normal use, but I havent used onboard graphics in about 10 years and 10 years ago they were useless for gaming so Im not sure how they compare today.

Its called APU, basically theres a 6450 graphics chip in the processor Itself. It really is not for gaming but for a general use desktop it would be good. And If it were not for AMDs low prices, they would be in trouble.
