Buying a Belkin Pre-N MIMO wireless router. Info needed about Laptop network card

I am about to buy a New Belkin Pre-N MIMO wireless router. My laptop is too far from my LINKSYS wireless router to connect to the internet and I cant move it closer. I heard that a Belkin Pre-N MIMO wireless router has a much farther reach then the Linksys router.

My question is if I buy a New Belkin Pre-N MIMO wireless router, can I still use my LINKSYS wireless network card that is in the laptop or do I absolutly have to buy a New Belkin Pre-N MIMO network card for my laptop?

Well... the Pre-N router has a farther reach speed because it uses the Pre-N technology, right? So if your network card doesn't comply with a Pre-N signal, then it won't pick it up, therefore making it useless, right?

I'm not positive about this... it just seems logial. Someone else please inform us on what will happen.
