A surround sound headset and card for 225- USD

I have decided that I am ready to step up my audio, so i have come here for help..

at the moment i have onboard audio and a power supply that isnt godly (350 IIRC)

so could someone break up my budjet accordingly, so that the sound card i get isnt overkill for the headset i get, or vise-versa (sp?)

a creative card would probably be best, but maybe there are other qualified cards out there :)
 
just get an auidgy 4 or get the cheap x-fi, i cant really tell the dif between the audigy series and the x-fi, but i use it mostly for games and the EAX isnt much different.

headphones.. donno just to let u kno, they are all 5.0 not 5.1
 
Turtle Beach is pretty decent. I have the earforce x2 and it's pretty good. Not surround sound, but just letting you know of the experience.

Another to look into is the Tritton ax360. It's one of the only ones I've seen so far that is Dolby Digital and Pro Logic certified; which mean's it's pretty good.:) Of course, there are probably other's, but I've never really looked into it so I wouldn't know. I originally was looking for 5.1 headphones while looking for my turtle beach, but just never did bought a 5.1.

Another one I did look into also was Zalman, which you can look more into also. As far as your sound card, I honestly wouldn't be able to give you a good feedback, but just to make sure that it supports 5.1 surround sound.
 
ok a few questions, i have onboard audio right now, and theres a orange (maybe pink) looking port that says: digital audio in

is that digital coaxial audio, cause im pretty sure i have 5.1 onboard sound.
(i plan to get better soundcard though)

and i was doing some more searching for the dolby approved sets, and they all seem to come with the decoder box or whatnot

i dont even think that they sell those in U.S. either, and i have not seen another dolby digital certified set, so i tihnk i will go with the tritton headset most likely (dolby has an amazing demo on thier website, and i mean amazing!)

so assuming i have a 100ish budget for a sound card, well nvm u dont buy a sound card every day do you?
say 150$ sound card after i get the tritton headphones, what card should i be looking at?

and can mypower suply of 350 (watts i think, its watts right? not volts? or is it volts?) anyway, could taht support my 6600 gfx and an xfi card?

EDIT: i also found these on the tigerdirect website, although im not exactly sure what the ampiliphier thing is, looks more for like dvds i duno

ur using these for gaming?

if so why the heck would u drop more on a sound card thank on ur graphics card?

i have the zalman 5.1 which are actually great for hearing enemies as they have a line up of three speakers for each ear; center,front,back
if you use the EAX tuning software from soundblaster, you can get the balance right and i can spot anything that makes a peep using the headphones :D

the trittons are actually grouped much too close together to distinguish where th sound is coming from

if you dont like how the center is further ahead than the front, u can just switch the jacks and re-tune

lol though shalt not steal thats a nice trick

i jsut tried that digital dolby test on their website, it left me amazed, u guys shuld try it

oh and my gfx card is prety outdated ill prob get new one after i get audio sorted and maybe get new power supply and just make a whole new rig so i can get core 2 duo instead ill play it by ear, but headphones and x fi s are salvagalbe for future builds :)

ok after doing more research, i see that the LTB True 5.1 AC3 Dolby Headphones and Amplifier are supposed to have both optical and digital inputs

there isnt much writen on them , and i read some bad reviews on newegg about the tritons that discouraged me, and i havent found a single review or helpful artilce/picture to tell me what ports the sony set has

so now this one here is winning

i havent found an extensive review on it, and as far as i know it only comes with the box thing, the headphones, and a mini remote lol, and there are 4 vague reviews written on tiger direct about it, all say good things though

maybe its not about the headphones having so many speakers in one ear

i dont belive that they have 4 channels in each ear or whatnot, but they do seem like they would be better than the LTB ones (i really trust panasonic xD)
