A+ Certification

Hi. I am new here and wanted to ask a question. I was thinking about getting my A+ certification and was wondering what were the top books for this would be? Or should i wait for a newer book to come out on a+ since they updated the test this month? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

A lot of times you can take an A+ prep course at your local community college. Typically the classes are a few hundred dollars, but they include a free voucher to take the test. I think the test themselves are $100 each. So, really the prep course is almost free if you factor in the costs of the tests themselves.

As for books, I haven't looked at any A+ books in a long time. Look for a book that has simulated practice test software with it. Otherwise I am pretty sure they all cover the same basic stuff.

Okay. Well i wanted to study on my own time over a few months and then take the test when i think im ready. Is it worth buying a book published/released in Jan 2010 or back in 2009 or should i wait for something to come in 2011? Because i read somewhere that Windows 7 material would be on the test and there are no current a+ books that cover windows 7 material. What are your opinions.

Look up the exam number that CompTIA current lists for A+. Then get a book that covers that exact exam number. I don't think that test changes all that much, maybe once every 4 to 5 years?

I only suggested the college course because the course is usually only a few days and preps you to pass, and the price of the test is practically included. I studied on my own when I took it a super long time ago, but looking back now I would have personally done the accelerate crash course on the cert and then taken the test.
