With an 802.11 wireless router, do they communicate directly with computer's ethernet card, or do you use a wireless adapter to plug into the ethernet connection? Or do I need a completely different card, if so what kind? Is there some way to use my USB port on old computer to connect to wireless router?
Thanks

I believe wi-fi its built-in to most laptops. I don't know if that all you need though, it could be.

You need a wirless NIC...to uses any special features you have built in the router you will need the corresponding NIC...or you can use a usb adapter
