64-Bit Vista Ultimate: Program Files (x86)

Could someone please tell me why 64-bit Ultimate has two Program Files folders? One is "Program Files" the other "Program Files (x86)". I'm new to the whole 64-bit and this is the first I've seen of it. I did notice that Ad Aware would only install in the x86 one though. I was curious as to why that was. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The "Program Files" folder is only for 64-bit applications, where as the "Program Files (x86)" is for all the 32-bit applications.

Ahhh...thanks for the info. Does it matter if some 32-bit programs want to default into the regular Program Files folder? For example Ccleaner and AVG defaulted into the non x86 folder.

Are you sure they aren't 64-bit?

Well, I guess I don't really. They defaulted into the non x86 folder so I guess they are. As long as the program installs and works, I'm fine with it. I do appreciate the info though.
