5.1 to mp3

you need a cable that runs signals from the mp3 player directly to your subwoofer which your speakers are connected to, yes theres a cable but i dono what it's called (i remember something about aux but not sure).

A 5.1 speaker system cannot be directly connected to a computer or mp3 player. Both a sound card and an mp3 player do not applify the signal, an amplifier or stereo receiver is needed to connect a 5.1 speaker system to a computer or mp3 player. An RCA to mini stereo cable is what is commonly used to connect a stereo receiver or amplifier to a CPU and could also be used to connect to an mp3 player.

well usually a 5.1 computer speaker system's subwoofer acts like an amp, atleast mine does. I just plug it into the back of the subwoofer and it works.

You are correct. I misread the question. I was refering to a home theater speaker system, not computer speakers....
