5.1 speakers - only 2 are working

I bought the Creative Inspire T6100 5.1 Speakers and I only get sound out of 2 speakers - not all 5.

My PC is running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 and I use VLC to play audio / movies.

How can I get them working properly? I've searched the internet, but haven't found a fix.

The 5 speakers connect to the sub and the sub connects to the green, orange and black audio ports on the back of my PC.

I am not using a sound card atm

Either you havent set your audio device up to output in 5.1 mode and its still outputting normal stereo through the green 3.5mm mini-jack conection OR the source you are playing from (the file in VLC) doesnt have 5.1 encoded audio in it, it only has stereo audio.

You need a sound card with 5.1 sound......

and then under the driver set it to 5.1

No you don't. It turns out that I hadn't configured it correctly.
