I just put together everything and the computer wont start at all. No beeps, No fans, I can see a green light on the motherboard when I turn on the power. Need some advice on how to go forward

Here is the specs.

ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM R2.0 motherboard, Intel I3-3220 processor, 2x Corsair XMS3 4GB memory sticks, Toshiba 1TB HDD, Samsung 24x DVDRW, Ultra LSP550 PSU, Thermaltake MID-TOWER Case bundle

I hope I didnt mess up the CPU.

You got the standoffs under the board in the right places, like one where its not suppost to be? Got the CPU 4/8 pin power connector plugged in?

I didnt put the standoffs, I will put it now. I read the tutorial, I have everything in place. Except for the standoffs. Hopefully, that was the problem. wish me luck.

Theres a screw(standoff?) right inside the case, placed in the middle of the motherboard. I took it out. Should I put this back?. Also, theres only 2 standoffs but 4 holes that are raised and 2 holes that arent.

Ok, now I cant boot it up again. I was able to install windows 7 and all the drivers. After that, I tried installing a soundcard and another HD. Then when I turn it on, all I see is a quick flash of light from the fan. Motherboard still has a green light. Took out, soundcard/hardrive. Still wont boot up.

That board requires 6 standoffs but if the holes in the case are raised compared to the other ones, then don't put a standoff there. You only need a standoff where you will attach a screw to. What fan is this flash of light coming from?

Yeah, thats what I did. I put 2 standoffs in the holes that werent raised. That solved the problem I had earlier.

The fan that came with the case. Not the cpu fan. When I turn it on, it will flash and the fan will move a little but no response on the motherboard itself. I reaseated the whole thing again, just to see if it works. No luck.

There was also a standoff/screw? in the middle. I guess to balance the motherboard. I put it back in. It worked earlier even when it wasnt there.

I forgot to mention. I took out one of the cover at the back for my soundcard. I dont know if thats doing anything.

Disconnect the fan from the motherboard or power connector and try booting up again. If it still won't boot up, remove the motherboard from the case and put it on a piece of cardboard and hook up the components to see if it will boot up. If so, then it seems the board is shorting out against the case somewhere.

I took it all out and it still not booting up. Green light still on the motherboard. I just dont get how I had it running, installed all the drivers, had internet then a soon as I tried installing the soundcard/hardrive I go back to square one.

Is it possible when I did that, it broke my motherboard?.

Try doing this.

Unhook power cord from power supply, remove the cmos battery from the motherboard, press the power button on the case a few times to discharge any remaining power, then wait a few minutes. Then reinsert battery and reconnect power and see if it boots up. If not, then you have a hardware issue somewhere. Also disconnect soundcard and hard drive to see if it will boot up.

I got it to turn on!!!! It was the standoffs!. Whooo.

Yeah, thats what I did. I put 2 standoffs in the holes that werent raised. That solved the problem I had earlier.

Did this standoff in the middle have a hole in the board for the screw. If not, take the standoff back off.
