Hello, this is my first computer and it is a old one. It has windows 98 on it and it is very slow on the internet. i have DSL and use SBC (AT&T) as my provider. Is there anything I can download for free that might help speed up this thing? All I find is free download and then it costs to fix the problem. one place said I had regester errors and they wanted 29.95 to fix. then it was not guarenteed. PLEASE HELP - My new toy is really depressing me and i can't get a new computer till I have proved I can take care of this one.

why dont you install more RAM that asways helps and upgrade the CPU
for free you can defragment the hard drive if you go on the start menu somewhere i cant remember exactly on there cuz rite now im on a server computer sorry

As already posted, your main problems will be your processor and memory. You should have around 256mb to 512mb and a 500mhz-1ghz processor to run 98 efficiently.
