Touch pad not working

I’ve a Panasonic Toughbook laptop and the touch pad will not move the cursor properly. Is there a way to use a mouse instead and how. Any other ideas on how to fix this problem would be appreciated and thank you in advance. You all have a good day.

Assuming Windows 10 or 11 here:

Some laptops have the ability to turn off the touchpad. Some will have one of the Function (Fn) keys to turn it off. There would be an icon that looks like the touchpad. Also, check under Settings > Devices (or Bluetooth and Devices) > Touchpad and make sure it's not turned off:

Also check the BIOS to see if there is anything there that could turn off.

Other than that, I would say check Device Manager to see if it sees a HID compliant mouse/touchpad under Mice and pointing devices... or check under HID for the touchpad

If you do not see any reference to the touchpad, then most likely the touchpad will need to be replaced.
